The Fjord 41 XL is the 12.61-meter German day-boat. Two cabins for four overnight, ten on day cruises. Twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 of 435 HP each, top speed 35 knots. Angular Fjord signature lines, removable aft beach, U-shaped cockpit.
Given several days, Fjord 41 XL can leave the busy heart of the Cyclades behind and explore the Small Cyclades, the cluster of tiny islands south-east of Naxos. From Mykonos we set a course toward Koufonisia, whose shallow lagoons and pale sandbanks hold some of the clearest water in Greece, then on to Iraklia, Schinoussa and Donousa, each with a single village and a handful of quiet coves.
A typical three or four day plan begins with Delos and Rhenia, overnights off Naxos or Paros, and pushes into the Small Cyclades before looping back to Tourlos. Nights are spent on anchor in sheltered bays or alongside in small harbours, the crew handling provisioning and route so you simply enjoy the sea. The meltemi shapes the whole itinerary: the captain plans each leg for the morning calm and chooses overnight anchorages on the leeward side of every island. A multi-day charter aboard Fjord 41 XL trades the glamour of Mykonos for space, silence and the wide horizons of the deeper Cyclades.
Charters aboard Fjord 41 XL depart from Mykonos New Port at Tourlos, just north of the town, with the Old Port used as an alternative pick-up point when conditions or timing call for it. The crew confirms the exact meeting point and time the day before, and both ports are a short taxi ride from the main resorts and beaches.
The season runs from May to October. June and September offer warm seas with lighter crowds and generally gentler wind, while July and August are the hottest and liveliest months but also when the meltemi blows most consistently. May and October are quieter and well suited to relaxed cruising when you are flexible with the itinerary.
The meltemi is the strong north wind of the Aegean summer, and it usually builds through the afternoon. Mornings are the calmest part of the day, so the captain starts early and plans routes to stay in the lee of the islands. On the windiest days the sheltered southern coast and Rhenia's coves stay comfortable, and the captain reads the forecast each morning to choose the best plan.
Yes. Delos and Rhenia sit just across a short channel from Mykonos and are the classic day cruise aboard Fjord 41 XL, easily combined in a single outing. Paros and Naxos are reachable on a full day in settled weather, best begun early to cross before the meltemi builds; for a relaxed pace over several islands a multi-day charter is the better choice.
