Sunrays is the 85.5-meter megayacht by Oceanco, delivered in 2010 and fully refitted in 2025. Her steel hull houses six guest suites accommodating up to twelve guests, supported by a crew of twenty-nine.
Powered by two MTU 16V 595 TE70 diesel engines of 4,680 hp each, she cruises at 16 knots with transatlantic range. Naval architecture by Azure Naval Architects shapes the imposing 85-meter silhouette signed by the Dutch shipyard Oceanco. A family day aboard Sunrays usually begins with a calm morning slip out of Puerto Banus, the sheltered harbour at the heart of Marbella's Golden Mile. With La Concha mountain rising behind the coast, the crew points the bow west toward the gentle, shallow waters off Nueva Andalucia and the sandy coves near Cabopino and Artola, where the sea tends to stay glassy before the afternoon breeze builds.
Mornings are the easiest time to be on the water here, so families with children often plan the first swim stop before midday while the Poniente is still light. The crew can set anchor in a quiet bay for snorkelling, paddleboards and a relaxed lunch on the shaded deck, then cruise slowly back along the Marbella shoreline in time to watch the town from the sea. Because Sunrays is chartered with a professional skipper, no licence is required and parents can simply enjoy the day. Fresh towels, safe boarding and a flexible pace make Sunrays a comfortable, unhurried choice for a first day afloat on the Costa del Sol.
Charters aboard Sunrays depart from Puerto Banus, the main marina of Marbella on the Golden Mile. It is easy to reach from Marbella old town, Nueva Andalucia and the surrounding resorts, and offers a sheltered, central starting point for cruising the Costa del Sol.
The season runs roughly from April to October, when the water is warm and mornings are usually calm. Mornings tend to be the smoothest time to be at anchor, as the Levante and Poniente winds often build later in the day, so early departures are ideal for swimming and longer passages.
Gibraltar can be reached on a full-day charter, crossing southwest past Estepona and Sotogrande when the forecast is settled. Formentera and Ibiza in the Balearics are open-sea crossings and are offered as part of a multi-day itinerary aboard Sunrays, planned around a calm weather window.
