For guests who want a real sea adventure, Mangusta 92 can set a course southwest from Puerto Banus toward the Rock of Gibraltar. This is a longer day on the water, crossing the wide bay past Estepona and Sotogrande, with the coastline of two continents in view as the Strait opens ahead.
The passage is best planned around a calm morning, since the Levante and Poniente winds funnel strongly near the Strait and the sea can build quickly in the afternoon. The crew watches the forecast closely and chooses the departure time so the crossing stays comfortable. Along the way there are elegant anchorages off Sotogrande and quiet stops near Estepona for a swim, and on the clearest days the mountains of Morocco rise across the water. Reaching the shadow of the Rock is a genuine highlight of chartering on this coast. Charters aboard Mangusta 92 depart from Puerto Banus, the main marina of Marbella on the Golden Mile. It is easy to reach from Marbella old town, Nueva Andalucia and the surrounding resorts, and offers a sheltered, central starting point for cruising the Costa del Sol.
The season runs roughly from April to October, when the water is warm and mornings are usually calm. Mornings tend to be the smoothest time to be at anchor, as the Levante and Poniente winds often build later in the day, so early departures are ideal for swimming and longer passages.
Gibraltar can be reached on a full-day charter, crossing southwest past Estepona and Sotogrande when the forecast is settled. Formentera and Ibiza in the Balearics are open-sea crossings and are offered as part of a multi-day itinerary aboard Mangusta 92, planned around a calm weather window.
