A Bremen shipyard

Friedrich Lürssen founded the yard at just 24, on the banks of the Weser near Bremen, where the headquarters still stands today.

1886

The first motorboat

Lürssen built what is recognised as the world's first motorboat, powered by an engine from Gottlieb Daimler - a milestone in maritime history.

Still family-owned

Four generations on, the yard is still owned and led by the Lürssen family, a rare continuity among the world's great shipbuilders.
